Rod Hall (of Rod & Ben’s Soup fame) has decided that 2017 will be entertaining, for him as well as for you! … he’s keen to stir things up this year by having a series of special events concentrating on some of his favourite things:
- The organic produce he grows at Bickham Farm
- The newly restored – and very rustic – old threshing barn
- Food and drink: lots of delicious food and drink
- Merriment: he likes people and good old-fashioned fun.
Using the organic produce that’s in season on the farm, the chef will design and cook a fitting tribute to the freshest of fresh vegetables and meats and it’ll be served straight from the land to the table. The produce list for 1 st July looks to be: mixed leaves, cucumber, spinach, new potatoes and chard with pork, beef or turkey.
The evening will be more than just dinner. Rod will be leading a guided walk around the farm explaining where the food has come from and the work that goes into growing it, giving a greater insight to all about food we eat.
Sat down at long trestle tables, there will be three courses to savour, a glass of wine/beer (or non-alcoholic drink if you prefer), included in the price and a cash bar for those who would like more, as well as light music.
In a nutshell: An evening of old-fashioned socialising, a walk around the farm, delicious fresh organic food, a drink or two and merriment and music in a 200 year old barn. It’s a joyous thing!
The first restaurant will be Saturday 1 st July:
6.30pm – farm tour
7.30pm – food is served
