Dining Devon in tell-all interview with BBC Radio Devon

On Saturday the 18th January, as the bright blue skies emerged from the Devon mists on a crisp winter’s day, the Dining Devon team made their way down to Plymouth to the BBC Radio Devon studios to do a ‘tell-all’ interview with Kerry White – well, as much tasty information as she could squeeze out of us during a 30 minute foodie chat.

Lauren, Chris and Sue outside the vibrant BBC Radio Devon sign

Kerry had kindly invited us in, on the back of our recent LUX Life Award of South West Food Blog of the Year 2019, to hear what we have been up to, how the blog started, favourite places and anything else she could find out about our eating habits.

We teased the microphone with tasty words

We arrived, with treats in hand thanks to team member Sue Stoneman (SW Home Cook of the Year – twice no less!)

Chocolate brownies plus a jar of seville orange (in season!) marmalade for good measure!

Chris explained how it all started, how the team has evolved whilst Lauren name dropped some examples of eateries doing great things and how we can judge great food and service, even if some venues know we’re descending on them. A couple of fave coffee spots were thrown in from Sue and Chris, along with an exuberant exclamation of ‘brunch!’ from Lauren…

Thanks for having us Kerry White!

On that note, we departed, full of vigor but with empty stomachs, and headed to a nearby Plymouth independent for some lunch at The Greedy Goose as we’d heard great things about their set lunch menu (blog to follow soon…)

To have a listen to the interview, which is available online until 18th February, head to BBC Radio Devon; our interview starts from 1 hour, 19 minutes and 18 seconds in.

Enjoy and make sure you let us know where you are Dining (or drinking) in Devon – we’d love to hear! Don’t forget the hashtag #DiningDevon.
